We're celebrating our one week birthdays

Today marks our celebration of 7 full days in the world. Such lovely puppies. You can really see the color difference between Nalu who is sandy brown and Ahi who is red gold.  Of the black & tan puppies, only Aina has her back to us. A very content litter.
We are one week old today!!
In the last 24 hours we are able to snuggle with them and they are enjoying their time in our hands. When I pick one up it doesn't take long for it to relax as I stroke it. Guess all those belly rubs to Jenga are remembered by the little ones.
This has also shown to make the tests starting to go more smoothly. The puppies rarely fussed today except when we did the head down test. Everyone either raised their heads in order to right themselves or kicked with their legs in order to correct their position. I have not yet started putting the puppies on a cool damp cloth as they still require a more consistent temperature regulation.
Today was a big day in another area as well as I clipped the front feet nails for the first time. Everyone did so well.
Here are their weights today, compared to their birth weights and for interest sake, their rate of gain. Remember we weigh the puppies in grams.

Puppy Birth Wt. At 1 Wk % of Gain
Milo 272 440 62%
Nalu 193 338 75%
Lewa 253 426 68%
Aina 224 375 67%
Ahi 271 462 70%

A big surprise that Nalu has gained the most overall, but nice to see an even gain between them all. Only on more week and we'll starting seeing the baby steel blue eyes starting to open.

  2. I must really check things more thoroughly before I post.....shakes head* Looking at the percentages of gain I realized that I had made some calculation errors.
I have amended the percentages of gain and my final comment. Looks like my littlest girl is growing the fastest :-) I guess making sure she gets the largest dinner plate helps.
